Twice - Christina Rossetti
Twice
I took my heart in my hand (O my love, O my love),
I said: Let me fall or stand, Let me live or die,
But this once hear me speak - (O my love, O my love) -
Yet a woman’s words are weak;
You should speak, not I.
You took my heart in your hand
With a friendly smile, With a critical eye you scanned,
Then set it down, And said: It is still unripe, Better wait awhile;
Wait while the skylarks pipe, Till the corn grows brown.
As you set it down it broke -
Broke, but I did not wince; I smiled at the speech you spoke,
At your judgement that I heard:
But I have not often smiled Since then, nor questioned since,
Nor cared for corn-flowers wild, Nor sung with the singing bird.
I take my heart in my hand, O my God, O my God,
My broken heart in my hand, Thou hast seen, judge thou.
My hope was written on sand, O my God, O my God:
Now let thy judgement stand - Yea, judge me now.
This contemned of a man, This marred one heedless day,
This heart take thou to scan Both within and without:
Refine with fire its gold, Purge thou its dross away -
Yea, hold it in thy hold,
Whence none can pluck it out.
I take my heart in my hand - I shall not die, but live -
Before thy face I stand; I, for thou callest such:
All that I have I bring, All that I am I give,
Smile thou and I shall sing, But shall not question much.

Fantasy Land
A couple weeks ago I took a L O N G overdue break from watching TV on DVD, which I am a professional at - I might add, and I picked up a book. But not just any book. This is the first book I ever read by my childhood hero, Robin Jones Gunn. Of course this started a trend and to say that I haven't put her books down for over two weeks wouldn't be an overstatement! Huge GOD-THING accured as a sure sign I was doing the right thing. The second book in the Katie Weldon series was released early, and that just so happened to be the day that I finished the first Katie Weldon book. What timing!
So anyhow, I have all this stuff in my head or rather my heart and I needed a creative outlet. I decided to create this blog like a scrapbook page of all the fun things from these books that I have read years ago and just recently. To all Christy Miller and now so happily Christy Spencer fans, welcome! To the rest of you God-Lovers and Peculiar Treasures that swung by for a visit I'd love to hear from you. All comments are welcome & appreciated.
I'm your child, and I want to be in your family forever
Todd Spencer would love Keith Green. He just would love his straight forward all God all the time demeanor and his contagious excitement about Jesus . I grew up listening to Keith Greens For Him Who Has Ears To Hear album. I remember listening to a recording we had made from the record and I LOVED this music. Even as a kid I picked up on the importance of the messages in every song, even when it was delivered in such an informal or funny way.
Just today for some reason I picked up this album and listened. I still can't stop the tears from falling hours after the first song played, but I keep playing it over and over. Take in these words. I have failed at this, am STILL failing at this, but one thing remains and I hold that treasure close to my heart.

I'M YOUR CHILD, AND I'M GONNA BE IN YOUR FAMILY FOREVER!
Pledge My Head To Heaven
Well, I pledge my head to heaven for the Gospel,
And I ask no man on Earth to fill my needs.
Like the sparrow up above, I am enveloped in His love,
And I trust Him like those little ones, He feeds.
Well I pledge my wife to heaven, for the Gospel,
Though our love each passing day just seems to grow.
As I told her when we wed, I'd surely rather be found dead,
Than to love her more than the one who saved my soul.
I'm your child, and I want to be in your family forever.
I'm your child, and I'm going to follow you,
No matter whatever the cost, I'm gonna count all things lost.
Well I pledge my son to heaven for the gospel.
Though he's kicked and beaten, ridiculed and scorn.
I will teach him to rejoice, and life a thankful praising voice,
And to be like Him who bore the nails and crown of thorns.
I'm your child, and I want to be in your family forever.
I'm your child, and I'm going to follow you,
No matter whatever the cost, I'm gonna count all things lost.
Oh no matter whatever the cost, I'm gonna count all things lost.
Well I've had the chance to gain the world, and to live just like a king,
But without your love, it doesn't mean a thing.
Oh no matter whatever the cost, I'm gonna count all things lost,
Oh no matter whatever the cost, I'm gonna count all things lost.
Well I pledge my son, I pledge my wife, I pledge my head to heaven,
I pledge my son, I pledge my wife,
I pledge my head to heaven, for the gospel.
